We gave an upcycled coffee horsebox a second life.
We found a horsebox that had already been beautifully upcycled into a coffee unit, bought it second-hand, gave it a deep clean and a full kWh makeover, then fitted our own premium kit. Here's the story of our mobile coffee bar.

A Second Life on the Road
It started with a simple idea: great coffee shouldn't have to wait for you to come to it.
We've always loved the idea of meeting people where they are — at festivals, markets, sports days and office car parks across Yorkshire. But we didn't want to do it with another off-the-shelf trailer. That felt at odds with everything kWh stands for.
So when we came across a horsebox that someone else had already lovingly upcycled into a coffee unit — now up for sale because its previous owners had moved on — it just made sense. Rather than commissioning a brand-new build, we bought it second-hand and kept a brilliant conversion on the road.
From there we gave it a proper deep clean, made it ours with a full kWh rebrand, and fitted our own premium equipment inside. It now runs on the same values as the rest of the business — and we're officially hitting the road from 25th June, so keep an eye out for the electric-yellow hatch near you.
How We Made It Ours
Four steps took it from a second-hand find to a fully kitted kWh coffee bar.
The Find
A horsebox that had already been lovingly upcycled into a coffee unit came up for sale once its previous owners had moved on. We saw the potential straight away.
The Second Life
Rather than commissioning a brand-new build, we bought it second-hand — keeping a brilliant conversion on the road instead of letting it sit idle.
The Refresh & Rebrand
We gave it a proper deep clean top to bottom, then made it ours: kWh charcoal and electric yellow, our lightning logo on the side, ready to serve.
The Premium Kit
In went our own premium equipment — an upcycled Eversys, refurbished and dialled in — pulling shots of our electric-roasted coffee wherever we park up.

Watch the Setup
We documented the build over on Instagram. Here's a peek behind the scenes.
The Machine That Makes It Tick
At the heart of the build sits an upcycled Eversys — restored, refurbished, and dialled in to pull our coffee at its best.
Second-life kit, first-class coffee
Rather than buying new, we took an Eversys super-automatic and gave it the same treatment as the horsebox: refurbished, serviced, and brought back to life. It delivers café-quality espresso with the consistency we need when there's a queue out the door.
- Refurbished rather than replaced
- Consistent espresso, shot after shot
- Serving our electric-roasted beans
- Compact enough for the horsebox build
Why Upcycle At All?
Because the most sustainable coffee bar is one that's built from what already exists.
Bought Second-Hand
Rather than buying a brand-new trailer, we gave an already-upcycled horsebox a second life. Less waste, more character.
A Second-Life Eversys
Our Eversys super-automatic was upcycled and refurbished rather than bought new — restored to serve consistently brilliant espresso.
Electric Through & Through
The coffee inside is roasted on our electric Bellwether — zero emissions at the point of roasting. It only felt right the bar matched.
Built to Last
Repaired, repurposed and rebuilt to keep going for years. The most sustainable kit is the kind you don’t throw away.
